Grace Street Clergy

  • Pastor Jeff Logan

Rev. Jeffery Logan is the Executive Director and a co-pastor at Grace-Street Ministry. He spent the first third of his life as a professional Shakespearean actor in New York City (BA in Theatre Arts from UC Berkeley); the second third practicing Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Portland, Maine (Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College). In June of 2014, he was ordained as an interfaith minister by the Chaplaincy Institute of Maine.

As part of his training, Jeff interned with Pastor Mair Honan at Grace-Street Ministry. One thing led to another, and Jeff was offered a co-pastor position after his ordination. When Pastor Mair retired in 2019, Jeff replaced her as Executive Director. Pastor Mair is a treasured friend and mentor in Jeff’s work on the street.

  • Pastor Nancy White

After a successful business career of many years, answering God’s call to ministry, Rev. White attended and graduated from Andover Newton Theological School. Rev. White was ordained in 2007 at the Elijah Kellogg Congregational Church in Harpswell Center where she served her first call as Associate Minister.

Rev. White, for several years, also led a monthly Worship service at the Governor King Wing of the Highlands in Brunswick. And from 2013-14+ she served as one of the on-call Chaplains at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Granted Privilege if Call in the UCC in 2014, Rev White has now served as Pastor of the North Yarmouth Congregational Church UCC for 7 years come September. She has been working with Grace Street Ministry for several years now bringing life and hope to those who are homeless.

  • Pastor Karen Orr

Karen Orr was ordained by the Chaplaincy Institute of Maine, where she studied mainstream religion and a variety of spiritual practices. She also became a certified end-of-life practitioner/doula to assist with the non-medical preparations for one’s final days.

During her studies, she completed internships concerning both people and animals facing terminal diagnoses. Additionally, she initiated a program of burial and memorial services at a local pet cemetery. As a street pastor and board member of Grace Street Ministry in Portland for the past five years, she’s created a program to help homeless people attain emergency care for their pets without having to give them up.

At Southern Maine Health Care Palliative Division, she worked with hospital administrators, doctors, and nurses to create a program for patients given life-limiting diagnoses and their families. She’s also volunteered at the Hospice of Southern Maine for some five years, offering companionship and guidance to patients facing the final months of their lives.
